Nortbound Highway 17 Opens After Lexus Takes 100 Foot Plunge
(CBS SF) - All lanes of northbound state Highway 17 have reopened after a major injury crash left at least two people with major injuries and blocked the roadway's northbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Both northbound lanes of the highway were shut down at Summit Road as of about 2:20 p.m. and reopened around 3:55 p.m., according to the CHP.

A CHP patrol car was first dispatched to the scene at about 1:15 p.m. after a Lexus sedan carrying four people fell about 100 feet off of the highway. The force of the crash reportedly ejected one female from the car and possibly left one person trapped beneath the car, according to CHP Officer Chris Falkowski.
Two females were taken to Stanford Hospital to be treated for major injuries suffered in the crash, and two male passengers were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, the officer said.
A tow truck was dispatched with a 200-foot cable to assist emergency responders at the scene, according to the CHP.
Falkowski said speed is being investigated as a factor in the crash, but that the exact circumstances leading up to the crash are undetermined.
No other vehicles appear to have been involved in the crash.
