NorCal Man Arrested After Pot-For-Boat Offer On Craigslist
OROVILLE (CBS/AP) - Police say a Northern California man was arrested for allegedly posting an ad online seeking to trade his marijuana for a boat.
Oroville police Sgt. John Bruschi said Billy Jack Pierce III, of Eureka was taken into custody on Friday, a day after undercover officers responded to his ad on Craigslist offering to trade some marijuana for a 26-foot 1992 Mirage ski boat valued at $8,750.
The 33-year-old Pierce unknowingly agreed to meet officers to discuss the deal before he was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale and soliciting of drugs for sale.
Police said Pierce was carrying about three pounds of marijuana worth about $2,500 that he claimed was for medical purposes.
He was released from the Butte County jail on Saturday after posting $60,000 bail. He's scheduled to appear in court on March 1.
