NorCal Gold Mining Town Up For Sale For $225,000
SENECA, Calif. (CBS SF) - If you have $225,000 laying around, a California gold mining ghost town could be all yours, according to a Craigslist posting.
The 9.8-acre parcel of privately-owned land in Seneca comes with a handful of small buildings, scenic grounds along the feather river and even your own small island.
"The Feather River runs right through this beautiful and remote property. We own on both sides of the river, plus an island. It comes with all rights (mineral, timber, etc). There are no known environmental hazards. We have owned since the mid-1970's," reads the posting.
The land also comes with a small bar and liquor license, but it doesn't come with utilities and the property is nearly impossible to reach if the weather is bad.
In 1942 a nugget was found at the former gold mining site that would have had a current value of roughly $394,000.
