No 'Wondo' In Starting Lineup For Team USA Vs. Germany
(CBS/AP) - Danville native Chris Wondolowski will have to wait for another day to crack his first lineup for a World Cup match after being bypassed by Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann for the start against Germany Thursday.
'Wondo' saw his first action late in Sunday's draw against Portugal and played well, leading some to speculate that he would replace injured starter Jozy Altidore.
Center back Geoff Cameron has been replaced in the U.S. lineup for its game against Germany after his mistakes helped lead to both of Portugal's goals in the Americans' last match.
Omar Gonzalez will start in his place Thursday in the Group G finale. Brad Davis also takes over for Alejandro Bedoya in the midfield.
For Germany, Bastian Schweinsteiger replaces Sami Khedira in the midfield and Lukas Podolski starts over Mario Goetze at forward.
Khedira has still been looking for his rhythm after being sidelined with a knee injury for six months. Schweinsteiger played well off the bench against Ghana.
Cameron's wayward clearance led to Portugal's first goal Sunday, and he was beaten by Varela for the equalizer in stoppage time.
