No Damage After Gas Line Break In SF Pacific Heights
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS / AP) -- Some homes and businesses in a San Francisco neighborhood had to be evacuated after a work crew punctured a Pacific Gas & Electric Co. natural gas line.
San Francisco Fire Department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said officials evacuated an area of about one city block at in the city's Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood after the low-pressure line was punctured around noon Wednesday.
PG&E spokeswoman Katie Romans said repair workers were able to stop the flow of gas around 1:45 p.m. She said the line was punctured by a third-party contractor.
After the line was capped, people in the area were allowed to return to their homes and businesses.
Romans said 64 PG&E customers lost their natural gas service. Service is expected to be restored to all customers by Wednesday night.
No damage or injuries were reported from the leak.
