NFL Says It Never Offered Adele Super Bowl Halftime Show

LOS ANGELES, CA (RADIO.COM) – During a concert in Southern California on Saturday, August 13th, Adele told the crowd she had turned down an offer to play the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show. "They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no," she said. Now, the NFL is saying it never actually asked her, reported Billboard.
"The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele," reads a statement from the NFL. "We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else."
Is this a case of spin control or genuine miscommunication? Maybe the NFL, which reportedly met with Adele earlier this month, was dismayed by the her tone. "Come on, that show is not about music, and I don't dance or anything like that," Adele told the LA audience.
Whether or not the NFL offered Adele the gig, the organization is working hard to find the perfect artist or artists for the show. "We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time," it said.
Last year, Beyoncé, Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay played at the Halftime Show.
