NFL Commissioner Slams Oakland Over Lack Of Progress For New Raiders Stadium
OAKLAND (KPIX 5) – NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has blasted Oakland for dragging its feet, when it comes to helping the Raiders build a new stadium.
The commissioner spoke in between meetings with NFL owners in San Francisco. After he gushed about stadium plans in other markets, he then called out Oakland for not having a finalized plan and not keeping in touch with his office.
Goodell cited significant progress in Los Angeles, Saint Louis and San Diego.
"Oakland, I have not heard directly from. So, I do not know, I do not have an update on that," Goodell said. "It's something that we have not seen anything to my knowledge of a specific proposal."

When asked if that has led to frustration, Goodell said, "I don't know if it's a point of frustration. But it's certainly a point of information."
While Raiders owner Mark Davis insisted he is interested in staying in Oakland, the city and Alameda County have not submitted a formal plan.
"We share the NFL and the Raiders' frustration that things are not moving more quickly," Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf told KPIX 5.
Schaaf said she just talked to the NFL on Tuesday and the new Coliseum City developers must release a financial plan by June.
"The Oakland project is a little more complex than some of these other cities like Inglewood and Carson," said the mayor.
Schaaf said that's because the land is jointly owned by the city and county, jointly used by the A's and Raiders and the city is on the hook for $12 million a year for the next 12 years.
The mayor also blamed former mayor Jean Quan's handling of the Raiders. "They received a number of arguably false promises from the previous administration," Schaaf said.
Schaaf also pointed out they have asked the raiders to submit plans as well.
"In fact, maybe they could get Carmen Policy to help them on their Oakland proposal," the mayor said, referring to the Raiders recent hiring of the former 49ers exec to lobby for a new stadium in Carson, near Los Angeles.
June 21 is the deadline for developers to submit their financial proposals, but the mayor hopes that there will be more answers before then.
