NFC Championship Tickets In Higher Demand Than AFC Game
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Demand for tickets to Sunday's San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Giants NFC Championship showdown at Candlestick Park is significantly higher than that of the AFC title game featuring the Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots, according to StubHub -- the nation's largest online ticket-seller.
As of Friday, the company said it had already sold over 11,000 tickets to the game. The lowest-priced ticket currently available on StubHub was going for $359, with the highest priced at $2,800 for a seat in Field Box 17.
"The get-in price has actually risen from the beginning of the week, which goes to show the immense popularity of the game," StubHub spokesman Aaron Bensoua told CBS San Francisco.
"Demand is way down in comparison (for the AFC game)," he added, with about 3,400 tickets sold online for the Ravens-Patriots, it was almost 7,600 tickets less than the NFC Championship.
In addition, "prices are almost twice as high" for tickets at Candlestick compared with the AFC tickets, Bensoua said.
Bensoua said California buyers outnumbered New York area buyers for the game by a margin of 7-1. Last week, the ratio in Candlestick between California and Louisiana buyers was 38-1, "so expect many more Giants fans this week," he said.
