New San Jose Soccer Stadium To Feature Unique Luxury Suites

SAN JOSE (KCBS) – Bay Area soccer fans are in for a treat as the new proposed San Jose Earthquakes soccer stadium will offer a state-of-the-art experience.

Although the proposed stadium is still going through the permitting process, the team will begin selling seats for its 12 field-level luxury suites later this week. The suites are a first of its kind for Major League Soccer fans, giving fans not only the luxury of a suite, while also being right on top of the action.

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

"You're almost next to the bench on some of the suites...so you'll be feet from the head coach and be able to talk to the players," said Jed Mettee with the San Jose Earthquakes. "It's almost like an NBA court-side seat."

Mettee said the suites will feature the normal amenities such as big-screen, high-definition TV's, full bars and catered food. The suites, which come with 17 on-field seats and six additional tickets, will cost $70,000 a season, with a five-year commitment.

Earthquake season-ticket holders will have the first chance to purchase the seats on Friday. They will be made available to the general public on December 9.

Silicon Valley sports booster and Santa Clara County Assessor Larry Stone said he expects the suites to go quickly.

"That's the Silicon Valley way. There is a lot of money here, both in corporations and wealthy individuals," said Stone. "Many of them want to lock up the best seat in the house for an extended period of time."

Construction on the $70 million stadium near Mineta San Jose International Airport could begin early next year with a possible 2013 debut.
