New San Francisco Bay Ferry Service Launches
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The Bay Area's newest ferry service began carrying commuters between the East Bay and the Peninsula Monday, according to the San Francisco Water Emergency Transportation Authority.
Rep. Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo attended a 10 a.m. ceremony at the Oyster Point Ferry Terminal to launch the new service, which will take passengers between South San Francisco and ferry terminals in Oakland and Alameda.
Assemblyman Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, South San Francisco Mayor Richard Gabardino, and South San Francisco City Council members Kevin Mullin and Pedro Gonzales were also in attendance.

The newest transbay service will consist of three morning rush hour departures from the East Bay, and two return trips from Oyster Point in the evening.
The trip takes about 40 minutes.
The fare will be $7 each way for adults, though tickets will be free for all passengers through Friday.
