New Information Emerges About Teenager Stabbing In San Jose
SAN JOSE (KCBS) - San Jose police had no immediate plans to increase security at Christmas in the Park, following what investigators believe was a gang-related stabbing over the weekend.
A teenage boy was attacked further from the family-friendly venue than originally reported. He had been stabbed at least once and was hospitalized with injuries that were determined not to be life-threatening.
"Our 911 dispatch center received a call regarding a male who had been stabbed at the Christmas in the Park event, near Almaden and Park avenues," explained Albert Morales, San Jose Police Department officer and spokesman.
It was subsequently determined that the 14-year-old victim was actually attacked somewhere in an alley behind San Jose's Tech Museum, and then stumbled into the row of amusement park rides near Christmas in the Park, the annual holiday tradition at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez.

Security was not expected to be augmented by police at the event, which already has four uniformed officers and two private security guards.
