Netflix May Try Its Hand At Original Programming
LOS GATOS (KCBS) - Los Gatos-based Internet movie powerhouse Netflix is reportedly trying to offer subscribers an original TV series they can't watch anywhere else.
KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:
The company is competing with HBO and AMC in a bidding war for "House of Cards," a new drama series starring Kevin Spacey. If that wasn't enough audience draw, add to that that the show would be directed by "The Social Network's" David Fincher.
If Netflix is successful, it would mark a new strategy for the online movie rental company.
"It's part of the whole movement to bypass cable and allow people to get their programming directly over the Internet," said KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid.
According to Deadline.com the two-season show is valued at over $100 million.
