Natural Gas Leak Closes Highway 92 Near Skyline Blvd.
SAN MATEO COUNTY (CBS SF) -- State Highway 92 has reopened in both directions following a natural gas leak near Half Moon Bay during the Monday afternoon commute.
A Sig-alert was issued at 4:47 p.m. for the area when the CHP learned of a gas leak near Main Street in Half Moon Bay, CHP Officer Amelia Jack said.
Although the roadway was shut down in both directions between Half Moon Bay and Skyline Boulevard, with traffic backed up for miles, the roadway reopened at 5:23 p.m. because of a directive from Pacific Gas & Electric, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.
A call to a PG&E representative was not immediately returned for comment.
Van Eckhardt said that the roadway reopened after PG&E was able to close the main.
At 5 p.m., members of Half Moon Bay Public Works headed to the area to assess the situation, she said.
