NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Revs Up For The Weekend at Sonoma Raceway
SONOMA (CBS SF) - The annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to the Bay Area this weekend. Over a quarter million fans are expected to attend the event at Sonoma Raceway.
The weekend begins with the Great Clips Fast Friday, a day of practice starting at 9:00am with two practice runs for NASCAR West and Legend Series. On Saturday morning, the Lean1 Pole Day Qualifying focuses on families with activities for the kids. Including a kids-only autograph session with the drivers and competing in the STEM Gravity-Powered Race Car Challenge. Visitors can also enjoy a full day racing during the Carneros 200 NASCAR Pro Series West Race, a new "knock-out" style qualifying format featuring the up & coming stars of the NASCAR West Series.
On Sunday, June 22 the weekend reaches its peak as the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series compete in the Toyota/Save Mart 350. Cover band, Wonder Bread 5 performs during "Happy Hour" from 4:00pm to 6:00pm along with other games and prize giveaways.
