Narsai David Wine Review: Peter Lehmann and Benziger
(KCBS) - KCBS Food and Wine Editor Narsai David reviews wines from Australia and Sonoma.
Peter Lehmann / Layers from Barossa Valley, Australia
This wine has an utterly fascinating aroma of many layers, hence the name. Semillon, Muscat, Gewurtztraminer, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Fresh berries and a touch of citrus. That citrus follows onto the palate with a mouth watering, delicious flavor. Plenty of acid for balance with a soft, creamy finish. Only 11.5% alcohol makes it a very pleasing, easy to drink wine. $17.00
2009 Benziger Paradise de Maria, Sonoma Mountain Sauvignon Blanc
Marvelous aromas of citrus with delicate floral notes lead to a wow! wine. Lots of rolling flavors on the palate, and I keep coming back to the richness of the aromas each time I lift the glass to my mouth. Here is a Sauvignon Blanc with the elegance and power that will surely stand up to something as rich as lobster. But utterly delicious to enjoy a glass of by itself. $32.00.
