Narsai David Review: Gloria Ferrer Sparkling Wines
(KCBS) - KCBS Food and Wine Editor Narsai David reviews some 'sparklers' from Gloria Ferrer Caves and Vineyards in Sonoma County. He says you can't use the word champagne since that's restricted to those made in the Champagne region of France.
The Brut N.V. has toasty nuts and delicate spices and would be perfect for oysters. The bubbles last a long time and with the high acidity keep tingling the tongue.
Blanc de Noirs is a Pinot Noir with just 8% Chardonnay. It's the palest golden pink color; the French call it partridge eye in reference to literally the color of the partridge eye.
And the Va de Vie is very soft on the palate, but are lots of bubbles and lingering fruit flavors with a hint of sweetness.
