Napa Crews Work To Repair Water Main Breaks Thought Caused By Quake
NAPA (CBS SF) -- Repairs to two separate water main breaks in Napa are expected to be completed by Nov. 21 and may be repercussions of an earthquake that happened almost three months ago, city officials announced Friday.
The first break was reported on Nov. 8 impacting about 200 customers near Laurel Street and the east side of Browns Valley Road, officials said.
Crews responded to another break Friday at the intersection of state highways 12 and 29.
The breaks may be a result of damage from a 6.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Napa, American Canyon and surrounding areas on Aug. 24.
Customers on the eastern side of Browns Valley Road and those on or west of Foster Road will have low water pressure or intermittent water service during repairs, according to city officials.
Those who live in the impacted area are asked to turn off or avoid using water between the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Officials assure customers that the water supply is safe and the breaks have not affected water quality.
A temporary water station has been set up on the north side of Century Oaks Park.
