Nancy Pelosi Confident Democrats Will Regain Control Of Congress
CHARLOTTE (KCBS) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said she was hopeful she would once again be Speaker of the House.
At the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, Pelosi said she refuses to give up hope that her party can regain control of Congress in November.
KCBS' Doug Sovern Reports:
Addressing the California delegation, she told them not to wring their hands but to use them – to phone bank, register voters and sign up volunteers because this election is too important to risk losing to the Republicans.
"Don't agonize, organize," Pelosi told the delegation.
She even quoted the late Raiders owner Al Davis, as she told the delegation to "Just Win Baby."
In reaction to House Speaker John Boehner's comments at the Republican National Convention that Pelosi "would have to pry the speaker's gavel out of my cold stone hands" to get it back, Pelosi had this response.
"Our winning a Democratic victory would have to snatch from the cold stone policies of the Republicans, that benefit the privileged few at the expense of many in our country," she said.
Pelosi is determined to regain the speaker's gavel by capturing five GOP seats in California and 25 nationwide, but said she will remain House Minority Leader if she falls short.
