Naked Woman Swimming In Mare Island Strait Apprehended
VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Vallejo police officers and Solano County sheriff's deputies apprehended a naked woman swimming in the Mare Island Strait Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Paul Wood, head of the Coast Guard station in Vallejo, said Vallejo police informed the Coast Guard about the woman around 10:30 a.m.
The Coast Guard launched a 29-foot boat and its crew tried to get the woman to come aboard but she refused, Wood said.
The woman did not appear to be in distress while she was swimming, Wood said.
It appeared the woman swam from the Vallejo Marina across the strait to Mare Island then back to the mainland, Wood said. The Coast Guard boat remained near the woman until she swam between some barges and land, Wood said.
Vallejo police and sheriff's deputies removed the woman near the shoreline, and she was strapped down in a gurney and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
