Mysterious Google Barge Becomes Stockton's Newest Tourist Attraction
STOCKTON (CBS SF) -- After its journey from the Bay Area to Stockton on Thursday morning, the mysterious Google Barge has quickly become an attraction for Central Valley residents.
Locals have gone to great lengths to see the barge, which is docked at the Port of Stockton. The best view of the barge is at the Stockton Golf & Country Club, which is closed to the public. People who are interested in seeing the barge have to go to a nearby park to catch a glimpse.
Aaron Rueda of Stockton is one of those who are curious to what secrets the barge holds. "I know you can't get on it because it is secret right? What's the big secret? What, are they building weapons on there or something?" he said.
Google moved the barge out of Treasure Island early Thursday morning after the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development (BCDC) commission found the floating structure violated local permit rules.

KPIX 5 has previously reported the barge, which consists of recycled shipping containers, is intended to market the company's Google Glass and other gadgets to invitation-only clients. The barge would feature showrooms and a party deck.
Google has a six month lease for the barge at the Port of Stockton.
