Muni To Begin Charging Workers For Parking
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Many San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency employees will have to pay to park in the coming months.
Muni officials voted unanimously on Wednesday to write $55 tickets to employees caught parking in a SFMTA lot without an $80 a month permit.

Workers who have free parking as part of their union contract would be exempt, but Muni said operators will have to pay up as of March 1.
Transportation Workers Union President Rafael Cabrera said the new rules are unfair.
"Some of us come at 3:30 in the morning. Some of us come at 4 or 5. Some of us get off late at night," he said.
Disability and transit activist Bob Planthold spoke out for Muni drivers and agreed with Cabrera.
"How can you charge some and not others? How can you charge all when some have no alternative?" Planthold said.
The MTA Board also voted to limit free parking at broken meters to two hours.
The board also gave nannies, babysitters and other childcare providers a break by voting to let them buy residential parking permits on a trial basis.
