Multiple Earthquakes Shake Area Near Nevada Border Overnight
BRIDGEPORT, Mono County (CBS SF) -- At least seven medium or small earthquakes shook an area of Mono County near the Nevada border overnight, with the strongest quake registering 4.0 magnitude.
The first quake struck before 1 a.m. about 12 miles northwest of Bridgeport, about 48 miles southeast of South Lake Tahoe and 23 miles north of Mono Lake.
Initial magnitudes were placed at 4.3 but later revised.
A 2.8 quake followed shortly after, with a smaller 2.4 quakes later, followed by several quakes registering below 2.0.
No damage or injuries were reported, but a quake of this size could cause minor damage to buildings near the epicenter.
