Multiple Arrests, Injuries In Fremont Stabbing Melee
FREMONT (CBS SF) -- A violent confrontation on a street in Fremont resulted in multiple arrests and injuries, police said Monday.
Fremont police said officers responded Sunday at about 10:30 p.m. to the 4900 block of Stevenson on a report of a stabbing involving eight people.
Officers were identified and arrested four suspects, two adult males and two underage males. One suspect was identified as 27-year-old Fremont resident Diadem Velcu, who was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy.
The second adult suspect remained hospitalized and will be booked on charges once released from the hospital, police said.
According to Fremont police, the victims in this incident were paying at the register of a liquor store when they were attacked by four suspects with who they had previous history. Three of the suspects were armed with knives and a machete, police said.
Police said there was no public safety threat as this incident involved parties that are all known to each other. The incident was not believed to be gang-related.
