Marin Couple Buys, Demolishes Neighbor's Home To Improve View
BELVEDERE (CBS SF) - A Marin County couple spent more than $4 Million to land a prime piece of real estate, only to level the five bedroom estate and turn the lot into a garden.
The home at 333 Belvedere Ave. boasted views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco skyline, according real estate listings. But it also blocked the views from some nearby homes.
The home was purchased for $7 million in 2004, but the owners fell behind on their mortgage and walked away, according to a report in the Marin Independent Journal. Clark and Sharon Winslow stepped in earlier this year and purchased the home at auction for $4.175 million with plans to tear it down.

The Winslows own an adjacent home that had been partially blocked by 333 Belvedere. That property sold for $19 million in 2008, but lacked a large yard the couple wanted.
Demolition work has been underway for weeks, and according to the IJ report, neighbors are pleased about the home's removal. When demolition is complete, the Winslows will have sweeping views of San Francisco and the bay.
