Rockslide Knocks Down Light Pole, Blocks 2 Lanes Of Highway 101 In Sausalito
SAUSALITO (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol reopened all lanes of southbound Highway 101 just past the Rodeo exit in Sausalito after a Monday morning rockslide causing a huge traffic jam for the morning commute.
The rocklide was first reported at 2:27 a.m.
Caltrans crews arrived with a bulldozer to try to move the 10-foot boulders, hunks of earth, a tree and light pole that spilled across the highway.
The roadway reopened at about 11:30 a.m. after crews used earth movers to remove huge boulder that was blocking part of the right two lanes.
Earlier crews had removed mud and dirt that had spilled and a light pole that fell onto the lanes.
