MTV Names Its Woman Of The Year
NEW YORK (CBS) - Despite not releasing a proper studio album in 2010, Lady Gaga beat out Katy and Taylor and rapper Nicki Minaj for MTV's 2010 Woman of the Year award. How is that possible?
MTV explains: "Lady Gaga didn't even release a proper album in 2010, and somehow, she managed to become an even bigger star.
"This had as much to do with the fact that she kept working with what she had – the endless tour, the incomparable videos – as it did with her harnessing her hard-fought stardom and attempting to become a force for social change…"
It couldn't have been that easy for Lady Gaga to take this award. Both Perry and Swift released mega-popular albums – Teenage Dream and Speak Now, respectively – that are up for some Grammy Awards love.
MTV is certainly right about Gaga's music videos from this year. Hardly anyone in the 'biz makes videos as vivid and entertaining as she does. And with a new album due out in 2011, she may have a chance to take the award two years in a row!
So who would you have voted for? Let us know in the poll!
