Mountain View Outsources Golf Course Operations
MOUNTAIN VIEW (KCBS) - An outside management company is taking a swing at operating Mountain View's golf course.
Faced with losing up to $1 million this year, the Mountain View City Council voted 6-1 to outsource management of Shoreline Golf Links to a Texas-based company.
"We are in no position to find $700,000 a year to plug into the general fund to support the golf course, basically," reasoned councilwoman Ronit Bryant in support of the outsourcing.
"I just can't support going this way," said Abe Koga, the lone dissenting voter, "because you know it really comes down to the question of, well, why some and not others and who are we favoring over others I guess, in terms of outsourcing services."
KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:
12 of the 14 golf course employees have been promised other jobs with the city.
