Mountain View Police Seek More Victims Of Online 'Blind Date' Robbers
MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) -- Mountain View police are searching for potential victims of three teenagers arrested Thursday who allegedly lured victims on blind dates to rob them, police said.
On Thursday morning, officers arrested 19-year-olds Nazario Cruz, of Mountain View; Jose Urias, of East Palo Alto; and a juvenile suspect in connection with the robberies that police described as "brazen," Mountain View police Detective Kevin Galloway said.
The three suspects allegedly established a false online persona as a young female who wanted to have sex with men while rolling around in cash, Galloway said.
The male victims were lured to a destination carrying large amounts of money, and allegedly robbed by the suspects, one of whom was believed to have been armed with a gun, police said.
Cruz and Urias are suspected in at least three such robberies, police said, and possibly more.
"There are three confirmed incidents of this type of robbery occurring here in Mountain View," Galloway said.
Anyone who believes they might have been victimized in a similar crime is asked to contact Mountain View police at (650) 903-6150.
