Hayward Man Killed In Livermore Motorcycle Crash
LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- A motorcyclist was killed in a solo-vehicle crash in Livermore Saturday afternoon, according to police.
The 25-year-old cyclist was riding a Yamaha motorcycle on National Drive near Longfellow Court at about 12:40 p.m., when something went wrong and the motorcycle struck a tree, police said.
The man, who is from Hayward, suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Eden Hospital Trauma Center in Castro Valley, according to police. The victim later died from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.
Just prior to the crash, witnesses saw the cyclist traveling at about 80 mph, according to police. National Drive has a 40 mph posted speed limit.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The victim's name was not available from the Alameda County coroner's bureau as of 10 p.m.
