Mosquito Spraying Planned In Brentwood After West Nile Discovery
BRENTWOOD (CBS SF) - The discovery of birds infected with West Nile virus has prompted Contra Costa County officials to schedule a mosquito spraying in Brentwood Thursday night.
Officials from the Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District told the Contra Costa Times that a group of mosquitoes found with the disease were a species that often breeds in backyards.
As a result, an eradication effort will take place from around 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday. According to the Times, an insecticide known as Pyrocide 7396 will be dropped over an area between Wilkins Way in the North, Sellers Ave. in the east, Armstrong Road in the south and Brentwood Blvd in the west.

2012 has seen the largest national outbreak of West Nile since the virus was discovered in the 1990s, according to the article.
Residents are encouraged to dump any stagnant water that may allow mosquitoes to breed.
