Morgan Hill Filmmaker Spotlights Sierra LaMar Search
MORGAN HILL (KCBS) - Search efforts for missing Morgan Hill teenager Sierra LaMar are the focus of two new short documentary films about the case created by a local independent filmmaker.
Help Us Find Sierra LaMar features interviews filmmaker Brian Garcia conducted with searchers who have volunteered hours of their time to help find 15-year-old Sierra since her disappearance in March.
"I just felt like they needed the recognition so we can inspire more people to be like this," said Garcia, a Morgan Hill native who spoke openly of his sympathy for his subjects' cause.
"My number one thing is, keep Sierra's name out there so we can bring Sierra home," Garcia said.

Although authorities have arrested and charged 21-year-old Antolin Garcia-Torres with the girl's kidnap and murder, her body has not been recovered and some of the searchers have not given up hope that she might somehow be found alive.
Many of the dedicated volunteer searchers profiled in the films are parents who said they would welcome similar support if their children went missing or were abducted. In several cases, the searchers were parents of the girl's school friends.
A film student at San Francisco State University, Garcia said he had a fickle YouTube audience in mind when he set out to create the two films, each close to five minutes in length.
"The first thing they look at is the timeline. They see something that's 10 minutes, they're more likely to get out of it and watch something else," he said.
A $35,000 dollar reward is being offered in the case. Garcia-Torres has not entered a plea, and his next scheduled court appearance is July 31.
