More Than 4 Dozen Arrested In Mendocino Anti-Pot Sweep
COVELO, Mendocino County (AP) -- A major drug sweep in rural Mendocino County has netted more than four dozen arrests as authorities crack down on rural marijuana gardens.
The Mendocino County's Sheriff's Office says authorities made 32 arrests Wednesday in the county's remote Round Valley. The arrests include seven Seattle residents and eight New York residents apparently brought in to tend the gardens.
Anti-drug agents confiscated more than 11,000 plants, some as tall as 15 feet. Authorities say six firearms, more than a ton of processed pot and more than $12,000 also were seized.
Raids on Tuesday resulted in 17 arrests.
Capt. Kurt Smallcomb told The Press Democrat of Santa Rosa that the raids could continue through the end of the week. He stressed that authorities are not targeting medical marijuana.
