Monterey County Driver Survives Collision With Amtrak Train
SOLEDAD (CBS SF) - A man was flown to the hospital after his car was hit by an Amtrak train in Soledad on Thursday, according to Cal Fire.
The track was closed for several hours at around 6:20 p.m. at Front Street as firefighters responded to the collision.
The Honda Accord had been hit by the train, causing major damage to the car and moderate injuries to the car's driver.
He was flown to San Jose Regional Trauma Center for treatment.
There were no reported injuries by Amtrak passengers.
Cal Fire recommends checking for approaching trains at railroad crossings even if the warning lights are not flashing. Roll down windows to listen for train horns, whistles or bells.
