Armed Albany Runaway Search Prompts School Lockdown
ALBANY (KCBS) – Schools in the Albany Unified School District were locked down for nearly two hours Wednesday Morning because of concerns about a runaway teenager who may be armed with a gun.
Albany Police spokeswoman Karina Tindol said John Scott was reported missing by his father early Wednesday morning.
"There was a runaway juvenile who is considered at risk reported missing at approximately 1 am," she said. "His father also reported that a handgun and ammunition were also missing."
Police asked officials to lock down all schools in the Albany Unified School District around 11:15 am after there were reports that Scott was in the area. The lockdown was lifted a little less than two hours later.
