Michigan Reportedly Tells Alums That Harbaugh Will Be New Coach
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Apparently even the University of Michigan is calling the hiring of Jim Harbaugh as the next coach of the Wolverines as a done deal.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter says the programs top supporters have already been tipped to Harbaugh's hiring.
On Sunday, Harbaugh confirmed to his players that he's leaving, saying his stay in San Francisco has been the "time of my life."
Team officials confirmed via press release that the split was mutual. Harbaugh still had a year remaining on his original 5-year, $25 million contact with the Niners.
If Jim Harbaugh does take the coaching position in Michigan, he will reportedly be the highest paid college coach at $8 million per season.
Alabama's Nick Saban holds the current title, bringing in a little more than $7-million annually.
