Mendocino County House Fire Kills Girls Ages 9, 14
MANCHESTER, Mendocino County (CBS / AP) -- A four-alarm fire at a nearly 150-year-old home along the coast of Mendocino County has killed two young girls.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that the fire broke out early Tuesday at a two-story Manchester home.
A man, his wife and their son were able to escape the blaze through an upstairs window but two girls, ages 9 and 14, were unable to exit the house.
Mendocino County sheriff's officials have not released the names of the victims, but the newspaper identified the girls killed as members of the Cazares family. A GoFundMe page has been set up by a member of the community.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
