Memorial Held For Victims Of Bay Area Murder Spree
VALLEJO (AP) -- Members of Vallejo's Filipino and Vietnamese communities have gathered to remember five victims linked to a dead murder suspect.
The afternoon memorial service at the Filipino Cultural Center on Thursday was held in honor of Cindy Tran, Ricardo and Frederick Sales, Segundina Allen and Macaria Smart.
Police have linked the deaths of the five victims, all of Filipino or Vietnamese descent, to Efren Valdemoro. The 38-year-old was shot dead by California Highway Patrol officers last month following a high-speed chase.
Memorial organizers said the community was still reeling from the deaths.
Tran was found strangled in Valdemoro's car following the chase. The bodies of Allen and Smart were discovered at a Vallejo home the same day. The Sales men, father and son, were found dead in a Hercules home owned by Tran.
