Megabus Re-Launches In California With Cheap SF-LA Fares
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— The last time they were here in 2007-2008, demand was initially low, but Megabus has decided to come back to California to re-launch service between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Byrony Chamberlain, Megabus.com director, stood next to one of the brand new double-decker busses at San Francisco's main Caltrain Station Wednesday to announce the low-fare, express service.
Demand was initially low a few years ago, but according to Chamberlain, they've found there is a desire for other ways to travel.
"Service is designed to be express— city to city. So leaving here to go down to Los Angeles, we pick up here and we pick up in either San Jose or Oakland, then it's non-stop all the way down to Los Angeles," Chamberlain said.

That travel time is said to be seven hours and 45 minutes and tickets will range from just one dollar to about $25 per trip.
The San Francisco Travel Association's Laurie Armstrong expects the service will be a tremendous asset.
"People are looking for this kind of value. You know, frankly I think the addition of Wi-Fi on a bus is a big deal, because that takes the hours you're going to spend on the bus and makes them productive hours and enjoyable hours. You can sit and watch a movie, you can do some work," she said.
Megabus hits the road starting December 12th and will also start daily trips between the Bay Area and Sacramento and Sparks, Nevada. All fares for that first week will be one-dollar.
