McDonald's Recalls 29 Million Happy Meal 'Step-iT' Fitness Bands Due To Skin Irritation
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- McDonald's is recalling 29 million Happy Meal fitness bands after dozens of kids developed skin irritation and burns.
The fast food chain stopped including the Step-iT activity wristbands with children's Happy Meals last week.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission there were more than 70 cases of injured children. Some had blisters.
The brightly-colored Step-iT fitness bands look like watches and are intended to encourage and track physical activity. They were made in China and sold at McDonald's restaurants nationwide from August 9, 2016 to August 17, 2016.
Customers who return them will get a free replacement toy and either a yogurt tube or a bag of apple slices.
