Mayor Lee Encourages San Franciscans To Participate In Season Of Giving
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— As the holiday season is upon us, the City of San Francisco is launching a Season of Giving where people are asked to help out with the less fortunate.
Donations of time, food, and money are needed and Mayor Ed Lee is asking residents and businesses to step up and help out by contributing to social service organizations.
"We take up the challenge in times of bad news and economic hurt that we do things differently here in our city," Lee pledged.

The mayor said he will be at St. Anthony's during Thanksgiving week to do a little volunteering of his own.
Cecil Williams of Glide Memorial Church is a part of this Season of Giving effort.
"Make sure that no one has to suffer during the holiday season and in fact, in any season. No one should have to suffer," said Williams.
Glide, St. Anthony's, the Salvation Army, United Way, Self Help for the Elderly and a number of other non profits have special holiday programs to make sure the homeless and needy don't go without.
They're asking the public to make donations, but remind us that if you can't afford to donate material goods, volunteering your time would also be welcome.
