Martinez Boy Hurt In Boston Bombings Out Of Hospital, Revisits Scene
BOSTON (CBS / AP) -- An 11-year-old Bay Area boy who was injured in the Boston Marathon bombing has visited the scene of the devastation following his hospital discharge.
Aaron Hern went back to Boylston Street in Boston on Thursday and looked at the place where he was standing when the blasts happened. He left the hospital on Wednesday.
His father Alan Hern, a teacher from Martinez, said his son needed surgery to repair a large laceration to his left thigh and had other injuries that included ruptured eardrums.
The sixth-grader was there to watch the race with his father and his 10-year-old sister as his mother, Katherine Hern, competed as a runner.
Doctors told Aaron's family he will make a full physical recovery and will be back to playing all the sports he enjoyed before.
