Marino Impressed With 'Dynamic' Kaepernick, Expects 'Exciting' Game
NEW ORLEANS (CBS 5) -- NFL Hall of famers have a tendency to lean toward greatness and Dan Marino is no different.
He's particularly impressed with the play of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and expects Super Bowl XLVII will deliver "an exciting football game with a lot of points scored."
Marino, who spent 17 seasons as a quarterback with the Miami Dolphins and now works as a CBS Sports broadcaster, described Kaepernick as "a very dynamic young player" who he can't wait to see play on Sunday.
"He could make big plays in chunks, he could run for 20 or 40 yards or maybe a touchdown - or he could just stand in the pocket and make great throws down the field. His arm strength is as good as anybody's in the league," Marino said in an interview with CBS 5 on Friday.
Like Marino, Kaepernick is playing in the Super Bowl in only his second season. The legendary old pro offered the young up-and-comer some sage advice, suggesting that he take time to "understand the moment."
"It's a very unique opportunity," Marino explained, "especially as a young kid like that - it's only going to be his 10th start in the NFL."
