Marin Holds Off On Banning Plastic Bags
SAN RAFAEL (KCBS) - Marin County Supervisors were ready to ban plastic grocery bags, until they caught wind of some possible legal trouble. Now, there will be a delay that has angered some environmentalists.

Grocery stores in unincorporated Marin County would have to stop using plastic bags under a proposed ordinance. But at Tuesday's meeting, Deputy County Counsel David Zaltsman told supervisors that an attorney from the Save the Plastic Bags Coalition has threatened legal action.
"Save the Plastic Bag has specifically stated that they will be suing us over this measure in a rare mandate proceeding under the California Environmental Quality Act," said Zaltsman.
He called for a three-week delay in the adoption of the ordinance.
Board president Susan Adams says her colleagues are committed to moving forward on this issue and she believes it will happen.
