Marin County Supervisor Charles McGlashan Dies Of Heart Attack
SAN RAFAEL (BCN) - Marin County Supervisor Charles McGlashan died Sunday of an apparent heart attack while on a ski trip in Lake Tahoe, Marin County Administrator Matthew Hymel announced Monday.
Hymel said McGlashan, who was 49, left a legacy of environmental leadership that was "passionate, inspired and pragmatic."
Among McGlashan's accomplishments are the formation of SMART, the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit commuter train project, the Marin Economic Forum and the Marin Energy Authority, Hymel said on McGlashan's Facebook page.
Fellow SMART board of director Deborah Fudge said on Facebook, "I am in shock and so sad for all of us. He and I traveled to Japan together for SMART. He was SO proud of Marin Clean Energy. I will miss my best buddy. We love you Charles."
McGlashan represented the 3rd district in southern Marin County, which includes Mill Valley, Marin City, Belvedere, Strawberry, Sausalito, Tam Valley and Tiburon.
McGlashan had served on the Board of Supervisors since 2005. He was born in Hillsborough, graduated with honors from Yale in 1983 and received his MBA at Stanford in 1991.
He leaves his wife, Carol Misseldine, of Mill Valley.
