Marin City Man Arrested For DUI, Hit-And-Run After Head-On Crash On Highway 1
MARIN CITY (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol arrested a Marin City man on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run Wednesday night after his vehicle collided head-on with another car on state Highway 1 in west Marin County.
The accident happened between Stinson Beach and the Muir Woods overlook, Barclay said.
Mario Renee Ramos-Sem, 22, was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee south in the northbound lane of a winding portion of Highway 1 near Slide Ranch when he crashed into a northbound 1977 Toyota Corolla, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.
After the collision, Ramos-Sem got into another vehicle and left the scene, Barclay said. A CHP unit stopped that vehicle on Highway 1 and brought Ramos-Sem back to the crash site, Barclay said.
The driver of the Toyota, Brandon Smith, 36, of Bolinas, and his 11-year-old female passenger identified Ramos-Sem as the Jeep's driver, Barclay said.
Smith and the girl were treated at the scene for facial lacerations, bumps and bruises, Barclay said.
It is not yet known whether Ramos-Sem knew the people in the car that picked him up and left the scene, Barclay said.
Ramos-Sem was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run causing injury, Barclay said.
