Man's Escape From Alleged Belmont Burglary Foiled By Traffic Violation
BELMONT (CBS SF) -- An Oakland man might have successfully fled the scene of a home burglary in Belmont if it weren't for a traffic violation, which led officers to pursue his white Acura sedan Wednesday morning, Capt. Pat Halleran said.
At around 10:05 a.m., a Belmont officer noticed the car commit a vehicle violation on Ralston Ranch Road at Christian Drive. The officer pursued the vehicle and pulled it over as it entered eastbound state Highway 92, according to Belmont police.
As the officer was making contact with the driver, Antione Lamar Wells, 30, and his 15-year-old accomplice, a burglar alarm call was received for a home on Ralston Ranch Road, according to police.
Further investigation revealed about $5,000 in jewelry, allegedly from the home on Ralston Ranch Road, inside the Acura, according to police.
Wells was booked in the San Mateo County Jail on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, being a felon in possession of a stun gun and conspiracy.
His alleged accomplice, an East Palo Alto resident, was booked in the San Mateo Youth Services Center on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy, according to police.
