Manhunt Near Oakland Lake Merritt; Suspect Arrested
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Police arrested a suspect near Oakland's Lake Merritt Thursday morning following a search.
Officers were dispatched to an area near Grand and Bellevue avenues at 7:49 a.m. to look for the suspect, police said.
By 8:40 a.m., a suspect was found and taken into custody, police said. No force was used to detain the suspect, according to police.
Police have not released details about the search or the incident that prompted it.
Marc Paisin, a mediator who works in the 400 block of Grand Avenue, said around 8 a.m. that as many as seven marked and unmarked police cars were blocking the south side of the street.
"There were police all over the place," he said.
As of 9:15 a.m., only three police cars remained in the area, Paisin said.
