Man Tries To Kidnap Teen Girl Near Union City BART Station
UNION CITY (CBS SF) -- A man allegedly tried to kidnap a teenage girl in Union City on Thursday evening, police said Friday.
The 16-year-old girl was walking south on Union Square toward the Union City BART station around 5 p.m. Thursday when she noticed a man standing alone in the rear parking lot of a nearby McDonald's restaurant, according to police.
The victim continued to walk south when she felt someone grab her around her neck and midsection. She noticed the person grabbing her was the same person she had seen in the McDonald's parking lot, police said.
The suspect tried to pull the girl off the sidewalk and away from the roadway, but she was able to free herself by delivering an elbow strike to the man's midsection and running to a safe location, according to police.
The suspect fled on foot toward the BART station and has not been arrested as of Friday afternoon, police said.
He is described as a black man who is about 20 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a skinny build and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black baggy jeans and white tennis shoes, according to police.
