Man Tries To Kidnap San Jose Toddler From Mother
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A man who tried to forcibly pull a 2-year-old girl away from her mother in East San Jose Tuesday evening may be on the loose, according to police.
The mother reported the incident at 5:37 p.m. after the attempted abduction in the 200 block of Dayo Court.
She told police that her daughter was playing in front of her house when a man approached on foot and made a comment about the girl.
The comment made the girl's mother uncomfortable so she picked up her daughter, but the man grabbed the girl's legs and tried to pull her away form her mother.
The mother pulled the girl free and ran into her home to call the police. The man left and was last seen walking south on Paven Drive.
The man was described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a red baseball hat, blue jeans, and a white or light-colored shirt with yellow stripes. He smelled like automotive oil, police said.
Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to call San Jose police at (408) 277-4166.
