Man Stabbed To Death In San Francisco SoMa; Suspect Arrested
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man was stabbed to death in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood on Tuesday evening, police said.
He was identified by the medical examiner's office as 42-year-old Kenneth Lyon.
The stabbing was reported around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday near Ninth and Natoma streets, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Andraychak said.
Lyon was apparently sitting on the curb outside a restaurant when someone walked up behind him and stabbed him in the back, according to police.
A witness alerted police who were nearby, and the officers began to render aid to Lyon. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Andraychak.
The officers were able to detain the suspect a short distance away in the 1200 block of Howard Street. The man, later identified as Thierry, was then arrested, Andraychak said.
Police have not released a possible motive for the killing.
